Kids on Bikes Staff

Lindsey Arkfeld was hired in June 2009 as the Executive Director and first staff member of Kids on Bikes. Lindsey was born in Colorado Springs and is excited to be able to contribute and giveback to a community where she grew up. She attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in psychology and business certificate. Before starting with KOB, she was a Fellow at El Pomar Foundation where she directed a number of the Foundation’s community stewardship programs and assisted in the grants office.
Lindsey worked with Kids on Bikes throughout her Fellowship and felt honored when offered the position of the first Executive Director. She is passionate about empowering kids to achieve their goals and reach for even higher levels in their lives. The joy, freedom, and confidence that comes from putting kids into the driver seat of owning their own bike is what drew her to the organization.
“My house growing up had the steepest driveway and sat at the top of the biggest hill in the neighborhood. It was such a rush to start a ride by racing down the hill. My challenge was making it back home, and I distinctively remember the day when I was finally able to ride all the way to my front door. I received a huge leap of confidence in not getting off to walk the bike, but pushing myself to keep climbing beyond what I thought I could do.”
