The goal of the Junior Leagues’ Kids in the Kitchen initiative, which is supported by The Association of Junior Leagues International Inc. (AJLI) and its member Leagues, is to empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices and help reverse the growth of childhood obesity and its associated health issues. The AJLI initiative began in 2006 with the goal of engaging kids in the preparation of healthy meals as a means to educate them and their parents regarding nutrition and healthy choices.
2010 marks the fourth year that the JLCS has offered Kids in the Kitchen programs. Our main event will take place on Saturday, April 10th, and will involve healthy recipe preparation, fun fitness activities, educational opportunities with registered dieticians, seed planting, arts & crafts, and much more. We anticipate that 400-500 children will attend this year’s free event!
The event will take place at Mr. Biggs Event Center from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Come check out the Kids on Bikes booth!
