To kick things off, I’d like to share a story about our bike giveaway at Sand Creek Elementary this year…
As I walked into the school to attend the celebration, a boy rode up and jumped the curb in very familiar looking bike. He said that he participated in the ABCs program and earned a bike last year and wanted to celebrate his 5th grade brother who was receiving a bike that day. You could see the proud look on his face and how excited he was for his brother. He had a big smile talking about how much he enjoyed riding his bike and how he already had to replace the back tire from riding it so much. Seeing the joy this boy received from his bike and wanting to celebrate the accomplishments of his younger brother is one of the many impactful stories from Kids on Bikes!
